Pinspiration: Home Decor

I'm currently living and working in Jasper, Alberta, Canada for the next four months during my summer vacation. In September, Paul and I will be living together in Hamilton. Unfortunately, in my Universities town, leases for students usually go from May to May so I'm actually paying double rent right now (ugh) and won't even get to be able to enjoy my apartment until September. I will be making a lot of money this summer serving, so I'll be able to afford both rents. Living out here and waking up to mountains everyday is worth every penny. We are currently in the process of obtaining our apartment. I fell in absolute LOVE with this apartment located in a really cute neighbourhood called Westdale in Hamilton. The apartment is a 1930's apartment, in excellent shape with a decorative fireplace. It is my dream apartment and I can't WAIT to move in. Even though I won't exactly be moving in for another few months, I have been collecting inspiration via Pinterest for apartment decor. I really want to make use of the decorative fireplace, so I have collected some fireplace mantel inspirations to share with you.

I love the pops of colour everywhere! And how they used a plant for inside the fireplace.
I'm in love with the huge artwork above the fireplace.
 Black and white dessert theme.
What isn't their to love about this? I especially love the idea of putting books into a decorative fireplace.

Antlers instead of wood! Great idea.

Which one is your favourite?

2. Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Diana Ross & The Supremes
3. Misty Mountain Hop - Led Zeppelin
4. Sugar Mountain - Neil Young
5. Mountain and the Sea - Ingrid Michaelson
6. Upward Over the Mountain - Iron & Wine
7. Fire on the Mountain - Grateful Dead
8. Mountain Music - Alabama

Frugal Fashion Find Friday: Wild Black Sheep

EXAMS ARE OVER. I am stress free, summer has begun and I am on top of the world. In two days I will leave Ontario and make my way to Jasper, Alberta for another four months. In two days I will never have to do long distance again and wait three months to see my boyfriend. I love waking up surrounded by mountains. I can't wait for the million pictures I will be able to share with you all of Jasper. I swear Jasper is the most beautiful place in the entire world, you'll see.

I have fallen in love with the Etsy shop Wild Black Sheep. The clothes featured in this store are grunge inspired - for once you don't have to spend a fortune to look like you just woke up. I absolutely love the collection! Here are a few of my favourites:

I Love You Mom!

Today is my Mother's 50th Birthday! Happy Birthday to the greatest woman in the entire world and the woman who inspired me to be a frugal fanatic. I love you to the moon and back and thank you for being such an amazing Mother, I only hope to be the Mother you were to me to my future children.

Today is my Mother's birthday, but it is also close to the holiday where we celebrate all Mothers! I've collected a few of my favourite Mother's Day Cards for you to send your wonderful Mothers.

This card is totally relevant. I absolutely HATE spiders, thanks Mom for killing them all, I would of probably been eaten by a spider if it wasn't for you.

Depending if your mom is a "cool mom" this card is pretty funny.

Weekly Roundup *SORRY FOR THE LACK OF BLOGGING*

I would just like to apologize for my lack of blogging this week. I can't explain to you HOW busy I have been. I have been studying for exams, writing exams and when I'm not doing either of those I have been apartment hunting. Apartment hunting by yourself is a lot more difficult than I thought. I have had a few mental breakdowns this week - but I'm okay. I hope you all understand that I am not neglecting my blog, I just have been super stressed and I just haven't had time to post. When the summer arrives and exams are done, I will be blogging like mad!

Also, not to mention I can't open half of the websites on the Internet. Twitter, Etsy, some blogs, a lot of fashion stores aren't working for my internet, so gathering content for my blog has been quite difficult this week as well!

I also want to congratulate the winners of the 500 GFC Follower Giveaway celebration to Britt and Sara! They have been emailed and I hope you both enjoy your prizes.

I am PRAYING for a nice day. It has literally non-stopped rain everyday here in Hamilton and I'm getting sick of it! It's spring! I just want to wear a floral dress and run around in my bare feet, but April showers has showered us with constant rain. Yesterday I had my first exam and as soon as I walked out it started hailing, I hope that's a good omen like a bird crapping on your shoulder, which has happened to me way too many times.

Paranormal Paranoid

It's a long time coming until Halloween, but something extremely terrifying happened to me a few days ago and I have to share it with you all.

The other night I was on the phone with Paul at around 2 in the morning. Him and I were having a little bit of an argument and all of a sudden our line cuts out and we hear these freaky sounds. I have never heard ANYTHING like it I'm not kidding you. First you would hear these dark harsh whispering noises and then really sharp squeaky noises. I was in the complete dark, I quickly jumped out of my bed and turned on my light as I continued to listen for about a minute until I was like "My roommates have to hear this, they will never believe me!" so I ran upstairs and by the time I got to the top of the stairs, Paul had hung up the phone. I called Paul back and I'm like "DID YOU HEAR THAT!?" he started freaking out,  "I was so scared I had to hang up that was the scariest thing I have ever heard." "What do you think that was?" "Aliens". Yes, we believe what we encountered was aliens intercepting our phone call. Now, Paul isn't exactly someone who believes in the paranormal, supernatural stuff. He doesn't believe in ghosts, or an afterlife, or aliens.... until he heard that. He is now convinced there are aliens after what happened to us. Everyone thinks I'm crazy I know, BUT IT HAPPENED. I wish I could explain what we heard but it sounded like alien conversations, it was probably on my top lists of scariest things that have ever happened to me. Two other scary things that top the list happened about a week ago where my girlfriends and I were driving on the highway and we thought our tire popped and when I was in the elevator at the library and the fire alarm went off.

That isn't the only freaky paranormal activity that has happened to me before! When I was a younger kid, people talked to me. I know that sounds really weird and I'm probably sounding like a COMPLETE freak to you all but I'm not kidding! From when I was really young until I was about thirteen I would hear voices, different voices multiple times a day, just saying my name or other random things. A few months ago I was hanging out with my Mom and she asked me if I remember seeing 'dead people'. I was confused, because I never recalled seeing dead people - I just heard... voices? She said, "Well, you said that you remember hearing voices, but when you were really young I'm guessing around 6 or 7 you started to get really mad at me saying I scared away all your friends and you kept freaking out about how your friends were all dead and I scared them all away" Now I don't remember this, but apparently the movie the Sixth Sense was written about my childhood. I used to see dead people. Kind of terrifying. It's safe to say that I have come in contact with the dead and extra terrestrials.

I have always had a huge interest in the supernatural and paranormal activity. That is probably why I refuse to watch scary movies because I think what's happening on the screen is actually real. I have done a fair amount of readings on astrology, numerology, dream interpretation, witchcraft, psychic abilities.. the whole shabang.

Now you all have permission to call me a freak.

Do you believe in the supernatural or paranormal activity? Have you ever encountered something like that?

Frugal Fashion Find Friday: Firmoo

Happy Friday my fellow frugal females! I hope you are having a splendid week. For today's frugal fashion find, I'm excited to talk to you about Firmoo glasses AND there giveaway for a FREE pair. It is a wonderful chance for those who need glasses! You can’t believe your eyes? Yes, it is totally free for you! Frame + Lenses + Shipping = $0!

Personally, I've never had to wear glasses but I've always been jealous of you four-eyed females who get to because they are such a cute accessory. Firmoo has a wide range of inexpensive glasses to choose from. Some of my favourites are: thesethese, and these

How long have you kept your current glasses? I can bet for most of you the last time you bought a new pair of glasses is three years ago or longer. It is highly suggested by professional ophthalmologists that you should have a yearly eye exam and replace your glasses regularly to ensure your eye health. If your prescription has changed but you still wear the old prescription eyeglasses, you are in high-risk of deteriorating your vision.

So are you thinking about getting a pair of new glasses but worried it would cost you an arm and a leg? Head over to  Firmoo's Giveaway  and get your free glasses now!

First off, I want to thank all of my followers for reading and commenting on my blog - I truly appreciate all your feedback and your support throughout the growth of my blog. I started in November and I can hardly believe how much my blog has grown over the past few months. I really couldn't do it without any of you! To celebrate this milestone I teamed up with a few of my favourite bloggers to host a giveaway to celebrate!

There will be two giveaway winners.

I will announce the winner next Wednesday! Good luck and thank you all so much!

Fashion Inspiration: Alexa Chung

I started to become fascinated with Alexa Chung about five years ago when I realized she was dating frontman Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys. The couple weren't top headlines in Canada, but I am a huge Arctic Monkey's fan and I was curious as to who this beautiful stylish female was by his side. To my surprise, she wasn't living in Turner's shadow. She is a successful model and television presenter.

Alexa Chung is a fashion icon in the UK, but when I talk about her to some of my Canadian friends they say, "Who?" That's why I had to give the beautiful Alexa Chung an introduction for my North American friends who may not know this stunning creature.

If I had to raid anyone in the world's closet - it would be Alexa Chung. Her style is modern yet classic. I love how she is able to rock many different styles - rock, girly, classic etc., She is just the epitome of cool.

Who is your style crush?
